About Natalie
Natalie Hiong is a Singaporean singer-songwriter, composer and music educator whose career has been shaped by one enduring belief: music has the power to connect, express and transform.
An award-winning songwriter and performer, Natalie first emerged on Singapore’s music scene with her debut EP Little Heart, followed by Beautiful Mess. Known for her warm, distinctive voice and emotionally honest songwriting, she has performed in Singapore and internationally, including at Music Matters Live, Taiwan’s Spring Scream Festival, and on stages in London, New York, Toronto and Austin.
Her songwriting soon expanded far beyond her own records.
Natalie was a lyricist for the multi-million-dollar spectacular Incanto at Resorts World Sentosa and co-wrote the theme song for Universal Studios Singapore’s Hollywood Dreams Parade. She has since created original music for organisations including the Ministry of Social and Family Development, Singapore Discovery Centre, NParks, SMRT and Methodist Girls School, alongside extensive work in children’s music, schools and the performing arts.
Her work has been recognised internationally through the UK Songwriting Contest, where Unravelling won the Love Song category, as well as Singapore’s Homesongs competition. She has opened for international artists including Lenka and Marie Digby, appeared as a TEDx speaker and performer, and been featured across Singapore media and radio.
But perhaps what makes Natalie’s work distinctive is the way her worlds intersect.
She is not only a songwriter and performer, but also a trained music educator with qualifications in piano, early-childhood music, songwriting and vocal pedagogy. Over the years, she has taught everyone from babies experiencing music for the first time to young pianists, singers, songwriters and performers finding their own artistic voice.
Her approach draws from musicianship-rich traditions including Dalcroze, Kodály and Orff, alongside something equally important: the perspective of someone who has actually written, recorded and performed professionally.
That philosophy led Natalie to found Creative Hearts – Centre for Performing Arts in 2018, where she serves as Founder and Creative Director. Creative Hearts brings together music, performance and creativity, helping children develop genuine musical foundations while growing into confident, expressive performers and creators.
Today, Natalie moves between several interconnected worlds — artist, songwriter, composer, educator and creative entrepreneur.
She continues to write and create original music, develop work for children and organisations, mentor young performers and educators, and shape the creative direction of Creative Hearts.
And after several years in which motherhood and building a business took centre stage, Natalie is returning more intentionally to her own artistic work — not as the same young songwriter who first stepped onto the scene, but with more experience, more perspective and more stories to tell.
Because becoming a mother, an educator and a founder did not mean leaving the artist behind.
It gave her more to say.
At the heart of Natalie’s work is still the same instinct that started it all: to make meaningful music, tell honest stories, nurture fearless young creatives, and create work that stays with people long after the last note.
